Anton is a successful actor who suffers from being a bohemian. When Anton’s drinking problem gets out of hand, he looses his work and his wife. Anton hides his hardships from his son, Tommy, with a lie - Anton pretends that he is a secret space agent. In reality, Anton is cast out of the art world. Anton befriends a poet with a post office day job and a former ballet maestro who ended up as the owner of a junkyard. When Anton reaches the bottom, his friends help him to symbolically reform everything that has hurt him - with a huge demolition car. When the Avenger is chased by the police, he crashes, and Anton falls into a coma. He meets the creator… who might give him the change to fly to space after all. Several months later, when Anton wakes up from his coma he's the victim of an “accidental” body switch with astronaut Dr. Melnikoff. Anton has to act the part and he is trapped in the middle of a Russian space program. He becomes his son’s hero after all, and surely never drink again, as his rocket is now headed to start a colony at Mars.

“You know, I’m an ordinary person like everyone else.”

A comedy about the pure human desire to find yourself, love, something to drink, and a RESTART button. And if not this, then revenge.

Man exists, friendship exists, effort pays off, but often our destiny is not in our hands. Anton is a very gentle man. He is an artist who has not been given enough opportunity, and he is frustrated by the material pressure of his environment. He wants to be a good husband, a good father, and a good colleague, but he compensates life’s burdens with alcohol. All his efforts crumble like a house of cards, and he finds support from similarly troubled people–perhaps from another era. From them, he finds mutual friendship and philosophical harmony. After some time, he begins to see himself as a person with needs, and not as a robotic cog that’s designed to fit exactly into a larger system. Anton resorts to desperate actions that lead him to closer self-knowledge, and like most people, he just keeps an eye on where his fate is going.

A fatalistic story about the difficult fate of a misunderstood and self-centered artist, who unexpectedly becomes part of a unique moment in human histor. The Avenger allows us to forgive our own imperfections and vent our frustrations. None of us are perfect, and everyone struggles with frustration at work or with family. The setting of vulgar humor is intended to break down any hypocrisy and to knock down the superficial façade, so that we can look at the deeper essence of our relationships. Social rules constantly force us to self-control and self-discipline. Anton’s comical essence as the driving force of our story lies in the fact that he breaks down social conventions unintentionally.
