2020/21_TV_CHANNEL_NAŽIVO

Czech Lion 2021

On November 20th, 2020, TV Channel NAŽIVO officially launched on television screens across the Czech Republic. It is a brand-new television channel, realized by the Viktor Tauš's Heaven´s Gate, the contemporary circus company, Cirk La Putyka, and the Prague theater Jatka78. It connects live performance arts with television audiences. It presents imaginative show formats and a special visual language, defining a unique experience that becomes the new alternative to live performance.

The singularity of FILM NAŽIVO is in its one-of-a-kind approach to musical and theater performance. All the content is broadcasted live, here, and now. From the theater shows and concerts, through the theme music–and even the adverts. The viewer will be able to see all the bloopers and missteps that come with live shows, feel the adrenalin rush of the acrobats flying through the air, the breath work of the singers and the collective joy that comes after they take a bow.

As a free digital terrestrial television station, Televize NAŽIVO has reached 3 million households in the Czech Republic. Additionally, the program is streaming at www.filmnazivo.cz, where visitors can view it in real-time, following a short registration. There is a replay option for some of the shows, the viewer can access the multi-camera feature. It enables them to switch between points of view, thanks to cameras that are part of the performers’ costumes. The viewer can experience the acrobats’ first-person point of view, wait for the next cue with the actor in the dressing room or study the technique of a specific musician.

I believe we have the chance to bring culture even into households, where it has been forgotten.
