Next big step for “Fakir” doc!

Our documentary “Fakir” has been selected for the dok.incubator workshop!

Every year, the Dok.incubator workshop chooses documentaries from the rough-cut stage and helps filmmakers with editing, distribution, and marketing. The workshop for “Fakir” will include individual residential consultations with industry professionals, like Per K. Kirkegaard, Christine Le Goff, and Alex Szalat.

“Fakir” is a documentary feature about a troubled young man, Dalibor, who attempts to lift himself from childhood trauma and destined poverty by joining a traveling circus. Still at the rough-cut stage, we are excited to see how Fakir will take shape after the dok.incubator workshop!

On the escape from the traumatic past, Dalibor hides in a nomadic circus.

Shooting in Slovakia and Pilsen, Czechia, this project has immersed the filmmakers into the fractured past and present of Daribor’s life—as well as the highs and lows of traveling circus life. Documentary footage and abstract imagery reflect the convergence of Daribor’s experiences and memories.

We are thrilled to be back at Dok.incubator after an inspiring experience last year with the Lonely Production produced documentary, Camerraman: a portrait of 3-time Academy Award winning cinematographer, Robert Richardso’s life—and his friendship with documentarian, Jana Hojdova.

This year at Dok.incubator International, “Fakir” is one of 8 documentary projects selected, along with “Abortion Dream Team” /PL/, “Agent of Happiness” /BT, HU/, “Just Hear Me Out” /PL/, “Mina and the Radio Bandits” /NO/, “Nice Ladies” /NL, UA/, “Racing Hearts” /SE/, “An Octopus Under My Skin” /IR/.

Fascinated by themagic of circus artistry, he finds his own creative way that helps to overcome his inner pain.

“Fakir” is directed by Roman Ďuriš. The film is co-produced by Bright Sight Pictures /SK/, Lonely Production /CZ/, and the Lumisenta Film Foundation /PL/.
