The film centers around a young, idealistic couple living with their children in the eastern border of Poland. With their blissful, pastoral life disrupted by an influx of refugees unwelcomed in both Poland and Belarus, the couple decide to help the desperate people in need. But the personal cost of bearing this burden threatens to upend everything the family had created for themselves.
Veteran Polish filmmaker Lidia Duda:
“I’m not focusing on politics, but rather on its consequences for the individual, the human perspective on ethical and moral decisions in a given situation. What I try to find in my protagonists is strength of character and strength of family, whose members support each other in hard times.”
