PLEASE RISE

A fictional dictatorship has fallen, and a committee has been appointed to choose a new national anthem for the country. After a long meeting, its members finally reach a unanimous decision. For a brief moment, it seems that the difficult task is over. But their relief quickly disappears when they are informed that the winning song has been disqualified for reasons no one is willing to explain.

Forced back into the room, the committee members begin to argue over what their new country should represent. Personal interests, political convictions and old divisions gradually surface, turning what appeared to be a simple cultural decision into a struggle over identity, power and the meaning of freedom. Set almost entirely within a single meeting room, Please Rise is a political drama about the fragile moment after revolution, when the ideals of a new society collide with the mechanisms of the old one.
